Catalan Language Courses in London
Catalan is a Romance language, the national language of Andorra, and a co-official language in the Spanish autonomous communities of the Balearic Islands, Catalonia and Valencia, and on the Italian island of Sardinia. It is also spoken, although with no official recognition, in the autonomous communities of Aragon and Murcia in Spain, and in Northern Catalonia (a historical region of Catalonia in southern France.Catalan is very similar to Occitan, known also as Lenga d'òc or Langue d'oc, a Romance language spoken in Occitania ( Southern France, Monaco, the Occitan Valleys of Italy), and in the Aran Valley of Spain where it is also known as Aranese.
Catalonia is commonly referred to as the Autonomous community of Catalonia. It borders France and Andorra to the north, Aragon to the west, and Valencia to the south. To the east there is a 580 km coastline which meets the Mediterranean Sea.The capital is Barcelona. The autonomous community of Catalonia covers an area of 32,114 km² with an official population of 7,134,697 (2006) from which immigrants represent an estimated 12.3% of the total population.
According to a study carried out in 2003 by the Generalitat de Catalunya, Catalan is used by 50.1% of the population in everyday situations. .

Evening Classes
We organise weekly Catalan evening classes in central London for beginners. Beginners group classes cover general topics for those with no prior knowledge of the language such as: greetings and introductions, buying tickets, eating out, shopping, asking for personal information etc. The maximum number of students is 10 per class.
